Remission is a term that is used to describe when symptoms decrease or stop.
Remission specifiers in the DSM[]
The DSM describes two types of remission for mood episodes:
- Full remission - A period of 2 months or more when no symptoms of the disorder are present
- Partial remission - If some symptoms are present, but not enough to meet the criteria for a full-fledged mood episode. This is also used for a period of time under 2 months where there are no symptoms of the disorder.
